We originally started feeding the lamb from a bottle bought from the chemist. Special powdered milk can be bought and is mixed at a ratio of 250g of powder to 1 litre of water. The problem with this was that the bottle could only hold 250ml and sooner the lamb was wanting more – drinking up to a litre a day. There was also the problem of him wanting about 4 feeds a day as he couldn’t drink much at a time. The solution was to buy a bucket fitted with a valve and a teat. The teat that comes with the bucket is more durable than the normal baby teat that the lamb had managed to bite through. The bucket holds up to 8 litres of milk and it means we can leave her for a couple of days without having to refill the bucket.
