Sarah had a little lamb …

The lamb’s first feed

Actually it wasn’t hers – it was the neighbour’s. The lamb was born last Saturday (22nd September) and as the mother has a temperature and is not able to feed him, the lamb was started on goat’s milk. The problem is that he needs to be fed twice a day and rather than finding a goat and then persuading it to give it some of her milk, I thought it would be easier to have the lamb stay with us and feed him with a bottle. He’s only 4 days old at the moment and hungrily drank 200ml milk at the first feed.

Apparently, new-born lambs can be taken out by foxes so this evening I put him in with the chickens. They don’t seem put out by him at all..
