Guadix is 20km from the Cortijo and it takes about 30 minutes to get there. You can visit the impressive cathedral with its adjoining museum. There is also a columned Plaza de la Constitución and although the square was rebuilt after a fire in 1936, eight of the original arches do remain on the left-hand side of the square where you can also see the remains of the medieval wall. Guadix is a small, busy town with lots of small shops and an open-air Saturday market.
